Dare (2020)
We’ve been discussing the way that roles occupy our lives, whether these are family or social roles. We have been considering this issue as a Confucian issue having to do with the Confucian notion of the self. But is this really something peculiar to Confucianism? Exactly how pervasive are roles in human life? How much of our selves are constituted by roles? We explore these questions head on, and philosophically, in today’s reading.
